So I took the plunge and bought a lastolite highlite , we have just unpacked for it for the first time and it has creases down the middle , is this normal with lastolite ? Or have I managed to get my self a faulty one lol

Thank you that makes me feel a bit better , was worried as I heard it was crease resistant , I must admit though I'm not too sure I would consider this "light creasing " there are a couple I think are a bit deep , but then again if never seen a lastolite in real life so could be completely normal , I guess I won't know untill I do a shoot with it

Mine didn't have any creases when it turned up but I'd imagine that lighting it properly would blow them out anyway.

Is it new?
Leave it stood for a few days to even out in a warmish room. It depends on how it's been stored i.e. if the air had more moisture then that would aid creases. But then again, it's a highlite, you're going to blow the **** out of it with strobes so you shouldn't noticed anything unless you decreased the power on the lighting :)

Post some pics so we can see, if it's got to many big creases return it, it's ok saying the lights will blow out the creases, but what if you decide not to light it from the inside so you can get a grey background, or if you use gels, any big creases would then probably show through.

If you want grey with a HiLite, they sell a grey bottle top cover.....

Creases aren't an issue in my experience. It's designed to be lit from inside and powered about 2 stops over your key light. Everything blows out to white so any creasing is invisible in the final image.

I wouldn't use gels with a HiLite to get a coloured background - gels work best on a dark grey background.
