Yes
I just spent all day at a studio taking shots (over 4,000 CR2's) and I get the message:

"Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document."

Please help? I opened a RAW file the other day.

It's a 50D.

I had something similar with Lightroom the other day. I've just upgraded to a 50D and got a very similar message. It was becasue the software was written before the camera was released and each model of camera writes the RAW file differently.
Check for any updates from Adobe - unfortunately I had to spen £95 upgrading lightroom to version 2 for it to work!!!

Make sure your Adobe Camera Raw is up to date.

It says it's version 11. I see no where to start an update search. Gunna be very annoyed if I have to buy an update in all honesty.

It says the Adobe Photoshop Camera Raw Plug-in is version 5.0.0.178.

It still isn't opening. Do I need a restart?

You shouldn't need to reboot your computer, but you will need to restart photoshop.

i had the same problem and panicked.

Make sure you download Camera Raw 5.3 version and it should work fine.

You shouldn't need the plug in that way.. :)

I've installed the program like 3-4 times now and it's still saying it's version 5.0.

I've restarted Photoshop 3 times, and restarted once...

Any ideas? :(

Strange. Try uninstalling Camera Raw and installing it again.

How do you un-install it?

Are you meant to put the Camera Raw.8bi file anywhere? I searched for the original but no results...

The 8bi file goes here

Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS4\File Formats
you replace the existing one (I'd cut and paste it someplace in case you need to revert)

I just found it in the automatic updates so hopefully this is it. Cheers everyone.

I have never ever got the auto update to work properly, it always goes so far and just has a tilt! Worth a go though, it might work fine for you. Wayne
