Courtenay Solaflash Lighting Question

I have been offered a pair of Courtenay Solaflash Studio Lights (Solaflash 1000 & 1150) c/w umbrellas, cables etc....

They are a few years old now but in excellent condition and very well looked after by a friend of mine.

Question is, I have established that the original equipment manufacturer went into liquidation a number of years ago and searching through the net it is not obvious if there are any service outlets still left in the UK or even if replacement bulbs can be obtained?

I was hoping that someone within the TP familiy will have had experience of these lights and perhaps offer some advice to me.

The cost for the kit is £100.00, which is obviously very cheap for an entry set of studio lights, I dont however wish to waste money on an item of kit with a limited lifespan?

Be very grateful if anyone has ANY advice??

Thanks

Richard

I guess that no-one can help me out with this question?

For any of you with Studio Lights, could you at least try and confirm that I will be able to get replacement bulbs??

Can't help you with your questions Richard but at 100 quid you are not going to lose out too much if they go (and both going?!!). I would do it.

I'd be very surprised if you couldn't source a replacement tube from somewhere.... there can't be that many different variants! As has been said £100 is not a lot to speculate. I have a Courtenay unit and it's done me ok since 1991....;)

I think I'd be right in saying that Courtenay were part of the Paterson group. I think Paterson kind of got swallowed into the Interfit range.... things don't change that much over the years.... just a hunch!

Thanks folks for the comments, I agree £100 is not a lot at all to have a punt with, but I did not wish to buy a problem, they are coming tommorow so I look forward to trying them out.
