Hi all
I have inherited from my late brother, one Courtenay Solaflash 1150 & 1250 both working with one stand c/w umbrellas, ? but no cables,

1 can I get cables for them? if yes were from?
2 what else would I need to make them work with a Nikon D3100

These are ancient, if you're planning to use them (which I assume you are) be aware that they have very limited adjustment, the accessory fitting is unique and you'll be very lucky if you find any accessories to fit (but try Ebay), the stand fitting is unique so you probably won't find a stand to replace the missing one and the colour temperature is truly horrible - but as you got them for nothing they must be worth having:)

But if you're hoping to sell them, they are worth very little.

Cables... Do you mean mains cables? If so, I think from memory that they are a pretty standard fitting. If you mean sync cables, forget them and get a cheap radio trigger instead - the trigger voltage on these lights will probably kill your camera if you connect it using sync leads, using a radio trigger instead is safe, as well as being much better.

Incidentally, if these heads are black then they are a later model than if they are blue.

thanks Garry

now off to look for cheap radio triggers :) the other stand might still be in my brothers house still got a lot to sort out in his house

later ones fit a standard light stand yn rf602 triggers work if you swop +ve and -ve over in the leads every thing Garry said is as alway spot on

I've still got my solaflash heads from the 80's. They have a slave setting, so you can also trigger them using the on camera flash if required.

My my, you've just reminded me that I have a few of those Courtenays up in the attic somewhere.

If I remember, the holes in the bottom where too tight for a standard lighting spigot, and I had to drill them out.
