This year the theme is a “Walk on the Wild Side”. We want you to send us your best photographs of wildlife, wild landscapes and even wild weather.

Blurb taken direct from the site How To Enter
If you fancy taking your own walk on the wild side and entering our competition then there are just a few rules to remember. Our competition isn’t open to professionals and entries mustn’t have won other competitions. That’s because we want something original. You can enter up to four photos, which must be taken in the UK. Please write your name, address and a daytime and evening phone number on the back of each photo with a note of where it was taken. Send your entries to:

Countryfile Photographic Competition,
BBC,
The Mailbox,
Birmingham,
B1 1RF.

The person who takes the winning photo as voted for by Countryfile’ viewers gets to choose from a range of the latest photography equipment to the value of £1000 and the person who took the judges’ favourite photo will get to choose equipment to the value of £500.

The the closing date is midnight Friday 22 July 2012. Sorry we can’t return any entries.

Few bits taken from terms and conditions
Regarding image enhancement...
However we do not want entries that stitch two or more separate photographs together to make one image, or entries that superimpose elements photographed separately on to an image.

Doesn't give any idea of size, but I've always sent in A4 in previous years

I always think about having a go then forget to submit anything :bang:

I wanted to enter this but I couldn't get out to get enough suitable images :( I bet someone will win the £1000 worth of equipment who doesn't even need it.

Watching this with interest now, can't say I have much confidence in Jo Brand as a judge and Chris Packham has some odd views sometimes - wonder what the final 12 will be like :)

Loving the badger and the tern and who's beautiful barn owl shot???

just a quick glance over these, sure someone will know, is the badger by the same photographer as last years tractor? the tree archway looks very similar if not.

loving the first and the rainbow one personally

Somewhat similar but definitely different

The barn owl shot is mine and I know I won't be the final winner (I liked the poppy shot) but I'm still over the moon to have got into the final twelve even if I thought my pic looked terrible on screen, god know what they did to it?

Well
It is a superb shot and I had an idea that it was someone on here ... final winner or not (and no reason why not) it's great to get into the final list.

That's very kind of you, cheers

I never enter it having read the T&Cs plus you pay for a print and they WONT send it you back  seems a bit one sided surely you took the time and cash to enter, they could take the time to send them back, yeah right Im going to pay X amount for a print price of sending it and then wow they grab the rights to your shot

having said that I like the rainbow one best

What does it really cost to send them a print? £5 - £10 if you splash out on a top notch print. Then you have a chance of winning the top prize, or getting it printed in the calender, sounds good to me...oh wait I forgot the big bit, the calender is SOLD FOR CHARITY

tight as a ducks derriere springs to mind:razz:

Thanks gramps, I just remember the arch sticking in my mind, but as you say, certainly different :)

I think there are some great images in this years final.
I've thought about sending in an entry but never get round to doing anything. I'm also not too impressed with Jo Brand's input as a judge. Chris Packham does have the photographic knowledge to be a judge and John Craven - well I suppose he is more representative of the general public - and that's who are going to vote.
Well done Mark for getting your barn owl shot into the final - you never know which one the public will choose.

My personal favourite has to be the Badger shot.

I really like that. How did you get the owl in focus, the front of the grass in focus and the rest out of focus?

The badger show is over saturated on the greens? I like the stoat one as well

So the winner is ..... the badger in the treelined lane

Im not tight mate, you dont know me so why say that :cuckoo:, I think that is quite offensive, we have regular monthly direct debts to quite a few charities :) Oh yes forgot last month I gave one of my images to Royal Air Force Association Charity for their magazine from our TP Meet at The National Memorial Arboretum http://SPAM/8ztjy55

There is probably a very good reason. There would have been thousands of entries - imagine the Daily Mail headlines if the BBC had returned at taxpayer's expense

What would they do with the rights to your shot? Publish it - that's what the competition is all about! I am struggling to think of what else they could do with it.

It's not one sided - you take a picture - get a print - sent it to them and you might just get it mentioned on telly AND a big prize! I believe winners appear on the show  That's a two way thing in my book.
