1000's of images to choose from and these are the final 12 to appear...

Overall viewers winner "Piglets on Parade"
Judges choice "Curious Cattle"

Bit puzzled myself.

Piglets on parade is a cracker with the light behind the ears.

Personally i think they are all cracking images, and all well worthy of getting on the calendar this year

what the winner using a (film) SLR?

certainly a good cause worth supporting

"Curious Cattle" ... seriously?
Not "Hare in a Hurry", "Ruffled Feathers" or "Harvest Mouse?

"Curious Cattle"?

Maybe it's just me then :)

No, not just you Gramps, "Hare in a Hurry" is my pick followed by the "Harvest Mouse".
The pink eared piggies won because it looks like a calendar pic and I don't mean to be sarky or denigrate the shot.

Looked like a film SLR to me, but I couldn't see the name, nor any online evidence so far!

I think it was on Olympus micro four thirds (OMD EM5 or maybe an EM10) he had around his neck.

Like any competition, the results are simply judges opinions.

Did your entry make the shortlist?

I didn't enter, like 1000's of other people ... does that matter?
Yes of course they are simply judges opinions but I find them surprising and wondered if others did too.

If you didn't enter then what are you criticising?

I never cease to find judges opinions "surprising" if they don't agree with mine.
I wouldn't like the task of sifting through over 32,000 entries to pick a top 12, even if I had others helping me.

That question doesn't make any sense, would you like to try again?
OK. If you didn't enter then why are you criticising?

I didn't enter either and I'm not whining about the results.
In fact, I admire those who managed to get through the selection process and finish up as one of the top 12 and I wish I had images that I thought were even worthy of submission, let alone capable of winning.
No matter how much you complain here it won't alter the fact that the judges decisions are final.

beauty is in the eye of the beholder

my wife did not think much of hare in a hurry yet i thought what an outstanding photograph and secondly I know the person who took it :D

Piglets both thought when first seeing it how cute, would I have took the shot no! but then I know nothing about photography, well actually what makes a winning shot :)

by the sound of it piglets won by a COUNTRY mile :exit:

I'm not whining neither am I complaining ... I have a view, you are free to ignore it and move elsewhere :)

Me too Rob, thinking about the effort to get it, expose it well and produce it ... please pass on my congratulations to the photographer, I thought it was a stunner.
