Could this have potential?

Saw this flash modifier on Kickstarter this morning. https://www.kickstarter.com/project...e-revolutionary-flash-diffuser?ref=nav_search Thought some of you might be interested since this is a photography forum and all(y)

I'm unsure about it because I've never really looked into a small portable diffuser like this one, but it does look pretty good. Whether it's got the potential to be up there with the best of them I don't know. What do you think?

To me the sample pictures aren't the best because he's not compared them to other diffusers so it's quite hard to compare.

I will be looking into getting a small diffuser eventually so do you think this one is worth keeping an eye on?

It's just another tupperware flash gimmick, that doesn't do anything new or better. It will work, same as a simple bounce card will work, when properly applied in a suitably benign environment. All these things are highly dependent on the situation, ie nearby ceiling and walls, to create soft light. It's a 'softbox'? How can anything 2in square be a softbox? Soft light requires a large light source, eg bounced off ceiling/walls that creates a light source several feet wide.

IMHO it's actually not as good as other/cheaper/easier/better accessories

I've a sneaky suspicion my flashbenders would work better.
And they cost approx 2/3 of what the kickstarter project is set at.
And I can fit them into the front pocket of my camera bag and not worry about them breaking.

Good points. It's not exactly collapsible to fit in bags and I'm always short on space (I have missed many opportunities so I have a habit of over packing)
