Could I have your opinions please

It 'looks' a good 'un. But there is no brand name, that I can see, and that would put me off.

Please don't start a collection of crap tripods. Such a collection will never better mine :D
 
My personal opinion is to stick with a known brand name and I don't see Manfrotto or Gitzo here...

Yes, O.K. Benbo and 1 or 2 others are possibly not terrible either:p

It might be quality, it might not:shrug:
 
I am looking at getting the Manfrotto 190xprob with either the 460mg head or the 804rc2, but then seen this and thought save some money and put it towards some new glass.

It looks like a Manfrotto clone to me...

Without being able to try it out and see how well made it is, and how sturdy it's always going to be a risk.

If you go for it let us know what it's like - would be nice to compare it to a named brand.
 
I'd be careful. As has been said, the most worrying thing is there's no brand name which would put me off. You wouldn't be losing a lot at that price if it turned out to be rubbish, but I'd say play safe and put the money toward something with a known pedigree.

Nobody wants to spend a lot on tripods, until they find out it's one of the most important bits of kit they'll ever buy. ;)

It's always worth checking ebay for used tripods. :)

Get the best tripod you can afford, as CT said you don,t realise until you get a bad one, the good thing about getting a good one is that it should last you a lifetime if looked after, i picked up a Manfrotto 055xprob for £99 very sturdy tripod, i hope i don,t ever have to buy another one.
 
Look a bit like a slik tripod to me. I'd give it a shot if I couldn't afford a known quantity but then it depends on how much greif you intend to subject it to. :)

I have two tripods and I usually use the least sturdy of the two because its easier and faster to use so there's nothing wrong with having another upgrade in the future providing they're significantly different and not trying to do the same job (even then, you could probably sell it on for a small loss)
 
Just looking at the site and I think I will give them a miss. I will go with the majority and go for a named tripod such as Manfrotto.

Cant recommend going with a brand you can test and see, you really want a sturdy piece of kit to trust to hold your camera.

I tried a cheapie tripod before and almost lost my camera to the sea!

Why trust something cheap to hold a few hundred ££££ worth of gear? I woke up to that one early! Spend as much as you can afford and it will last. I bought the 055 manfrotto and a 488RC2, sturdy as a rock and more importantly I trust it.

You wont regret the manfrotto, very good purchase.
 
Id stick with brand names to, bought a camera bag from ebay what looked great turned out to be rubbish quality. There are some good bargains on ebay but I only use it for 2nd hand stuff now because I have seen too many times these 10minute businesses set up with larger drop ship companies and the quality etc just is not there.

For anyone else coming through this thread needing a tripod, I have to say that everything about that model screams Noooooooooooooo to me.

The clasps on the legs are puny and awkward looking. The camera plate is too small and the section is slots into also puny looking. The swivel bits at the feet don't look like they'd stand up to much use on anything but carpet.

It's a poor design and seems to be made of cheap plastic. I wouldn't trust it to hold a cup of coffee, let alone a camera.
