So is there anyone from here going to cosford air show this year i have just booked my tickets :D

Andy

Im not going, did 18 months trade training in the RAF there in the early 80's though, glad its still going strong.

Theres every chance ill be going. I havent been to an air show in years.

I'll be there, I haven't been back since my trade training in 2002 so looking forward to it.

I live near RAF Shawbury and quite a few planes come and go from there. You can get some good vantage points from the local roads. Saw the Red Arrows & Typhoon in the past. Sadly I'll be on a stag weekend and will probably miss it this year :(

I'm hoping to get there for this. The line up of RAF Participants looks very strong at the moment and am hoping they don't have to pull any of them due to other commitments.

Man I wish, I just can't get that far up. Does anyone know where to get a list of other events happening around the country over the summer?

Not a comprehensive list I'll admit, but:

Bournemouth Air Festival , 4 days, end of August?

Would love that one too but I'm in Egypt photographing my sister in laws wedding and a couple of others while there (pays for the flights).

Any more for any more?

I am going again this year.....weather forecast isnt good though:shake:
Not exactly flaming June is it....

I'm going :) First time

Bit peeved off though as my sigma 70-200 which is in for repair should of been back last week but the repair didnt go to plan so could be waiting another week for it.

gutted. most i'll have is a 28-75 :(

After the down pour last year, and having issues with a flat and its just a little too expensive for my liking, I might just take a drive over to Shawbury and find some places to shoot from. Anyone know any where round there?

My uncle and neighbour work there so might have to ask them :p wonder if I could get in... :D

Do you live nearby Harvey? I live close to Shawbury (neighbour also works there), was going to scout for a good location for this year but I'm away this weekend :(

I have seen some great shots from around Shawbury so there are deff good locations to be found!

Just down the road in Market Drayton :) working until sat though so scouting will be an issue but i'll check gmaps and neighbour :D

I shall be there..................looking forward to it... weather permitting..

Well left for Cosford at 6 am,lovely sunny morning.Arrived Cosford 7.35am.Started raining 7.45am.
And boy did it rain non stop. Left early as Vulcan wasn't gonna fly and other stuff disrupted.
Photographs? Forget it!

we popped over to RAF Shawbury, got some photos and posted in the transport section but lots of wind and rain.

Some family went to Cosford, not happy about the vulcan not flying, one tornado didn't make it. 2 took off from Shawbury, by the time we got to the car 1 was back.

Well, what a waste of a weekend. Stayed in fawlty towers Telford branch Sat night, baby woken by slamming doors and screeching women at regular intervals throughout the night. All of us woken up at 6am by the fire alarm. Grr.
It didn't stop raining at Cosford, we left soon after the announcement that the Vulcan was a no-show. I managed to get a few shots away while simultaneously testing the weather proofing of my camera, nothing worth saving due to the rain and umbrellas in shot.
Lesson learned, I won't book an airshow weekend so far in advance next time.

Same here....as soon as they announced the Vulcan wasn't coming we decided to leave....A waste of money.
3 tickets, fuel, and hire of a lens which stayed in my bag. Be a tough decision about going to the 2012 show.
Forecast better for tomorrow so I am off to Valley!

Yes it really was a shame. Piddled it down all day and we got soaked but our 6 year old reckons it was the best day of his life lol..

Took the camera but didn't take any shots because of the downpour.

Luckily I got the tickets off ebay last week and only paid £20 for 2 tickets which softened the blow of a lot of things being cancelled

Yes I went with some friends too. shame as usually its a Great Show.. we manged to erect an improvised gazebo and stay in the "Dry" got a few shots but nothing spectacular.

well what a day eh guys, got absolutley soaked through, gear soaked, managed a few of the arrows and tornado but nothing to write home about, dull day = dull pics lol, well never mind not cosfords fault, weve been last 6 yrs in a row had 2 bad shows out of 6 isnt to bad, and just looked out of window and guess what its stopped raining.

First time I'd been to an air show for maybe 20 years, so it was bound to get rained off hehe.
We left early, shortly after they said the Vulcan was going to be a no show. Cant blame the organisers for the weather..I felt for them actually.

Still...the day wasnt a complete write off. My grandparents both used to work at Cosford, and my mum used to spend a lot of time on the base as a kid, so it was nice for her to have a wander around the place...albeit a little wet!

Very sad to hear that the Vulcan didn't make it. For those who do not know, her finances are hanging by a thread. Anyone wanting to see her should do so sooner rather than later.

Sorry eberyone had such a bad day.

It's costing £38,000 a week to keep it flying....you read that right.
