Corrupt RAW files 400D

Raw file taken with my 400D, i`ve tried uploading the images from the camera using the canon software and using a CF card reader, the thumbs are fine and the full files all come out like this. It appears looking at yesterdays shooting it only occurs with my 28-135 IS. I`ve seen on other forums that this is a semi common problem (not seen any info relating to it directly with the 28-135 though) . Any ideas?

no idea what the problem is but if it's under warranty i would be tempted to address this issue to canon.

I've seen images of similar appearance before and they were caused by fragmented files.
Do you format the CF in camera after each upload? If not, I'd have a go at formatting the card and see what happens. It's unlikely to be the lens if the thumbnailed JPG portion has survived without corruption.

I too suspect it might be the card
I had an "extreme III" go tits up on me and the last couple of images were very similar
As Bob says try formatting the card in the camera see if it helps.
mine however was a terminal case, I recovered the images using the recovery disc
and got a replacement card FOC

It is really odd, This is the first set of images i`ve taken with this Kingston 4gb card. It also occured with my last CF card which was cheaper quality. I thought it might be the card reader as I used the same with both. But getting the images from the card using the camera is exactly the same, sometimes worse.

The camera isn`t under warranty but I do agree it would seem to be more likely to be the card(s). Weird it`s only happening with the 28-135 though. Before I bought it there was never an issue.

I use the camera to format the card after I backup the files to my pc (not this time in case I find a solution to get the files back).

This is all after my last CF card completely failing to function after my pc crashed while it was downloading the files. Very bad times for photography in my house

If the answer is "no" then it must be a lens "issue" but I have no idea what, Sorry

I've seen this before and it ended up being the card. Not sure why the lens factures i though?

Have you made sure that you are using the latest firmware? If not then this should be a point of call. I would also reformat the card inside the camera sa mentioned above. Try to avoid either deleting the images all the time or formatting via the PC.

just to reiterate I always format the card in camera. As for updating the firmware it is definitely something i`ll look into.

Yeah really does only seem to be the 28-135 but i`ll watch out for it in the future, having said that losing any images will be a pain.
