Corona virus. Not so bad after all

I cannot get excited or happy about someone dying ... in the case of the yorkshire ripper apparently he refused all medical help.. So he wanted to die? I would have kept him alive and made him suffer even more... Death is a welcome end for him... The families are still suffering.. so should he

Perhaps the infection was deliberate.

It says he was treated for it, doesn't actually state that he died from the virus. Is it just a case that it ties in nicely with current events?

I read somewhere else he refused treatment for it.

I'm with kipax - we should have kept him alive despite what he wanted. He wanted his release and has now got it.

Keeping him alive might have taken up a hospital bed & used other valuable medical resources and denied someone else the chance for life saving treatment........As things stand he's no longer a financial burden on the taxpayer and his demise provides some closure for the families of the people he murdered.

there's been multiple movies/docus/tv series about him over the past decades, only reason you know of him is because media ...
Some of us were living in Leeds at the time.

That may be true of younger people, but a whole generation of people knew all about him and lived in fear at the time. My other half was a teenager at the time, and lived just a couple of hundred metres from him . . .
It went on for years, the police were completely out of their depth and couldn't cope with the amount of information that they had. The one good thing that came out of it all was that the police were able to dramatically improve their systems, in the light of their experiences.

Wrong. You don’t know anything about me so, please don’t assume I only know about him because of the media coverage. I was at school for some of the time these crimes were committed, and was fully aware of them and the ensuing investigations. All I am saying is that now he is dead, he should be forgotten, and he should not be plastered over several pages of the newspapers.

I agree with what you're saying, but how were you aware of the crimes though if not through the media?

Most people would still have heard about it in the media though, even those that lived in Yorkshire.

That's true of course, the role of media is to report. But reporting events as they happen is very different from the point made in this post, which states that the only reason that people know about his crimes is because of subsequent movies/documentaries/tv series. That statement is clearly incorrect.

That is how most people are aware of crimes, especially in the immediate aftermath, when the offender is still being sought, unless you are unfortunate enough to be involved in them.
I am not against the media generally. But what I am saying is that after so many years, whose purpose does it serve to have pictures of the victims and details of the crimes plastered over so many pages and screens?

TBF most of the media coverage of his death has been about the victims and has been nothing but sympathetic to them. His death is news, and that news story has (IMHO) been presented well.

Wasn't assuming anything my post was more general, when I say 'you' I meant anyone reading, should have put 'we'. Try not to take things so personally. I'd know nothing about him if it weren't for the media is all, I don't see why they wouldn't report on his death
