We're off to Corfu in a few weeks time (6 nights) and need some ideas of where to go for some sightseeing (both in the city and outside)

We're staying in the old city near to the Old Fortress. We have that pencilled in and also Danilia where the Durrells Corfu in the TV series was filmed. Anyone got some suggestions for other places to go both photogenic and interesting. Preferably historic or picturesque.

Enjoy Corfu - I love the place, and plenty of photo opps. Paleokastritsa on the north west coast is a lovely photogenic spot. 5 coves with a monastery on a hill. A bit further round is Angelo Astro, a ruined Byzantine castle on the cliffs. There’s plenty to see in old Corfu town itself. Loads of cafes, eateries and some great narrow street shopping. The highest spot (Pantokrator) gives great views on a clear day over Corfu and across to the Albanian coast. There’s also an old derelict village (well derelict apart from a couple of restaurants), in the north - Old Peritheia. You’ll need a car/transport for all of these - apart from Corfu town obviously. There are buses, but they can have some odd run times, Taxis of course, but no idea what they charge. I’m pretty Sure there are plenty f places offering trips, especially near the port area.

Haven’t been to the south of the island in all the time we’ve gone there, so can’t comment on that area.

We normally go to the north west to a small, quiet bay called Agios Georgios. Not much there…

With a hotel called "The Pink Palace"? At least there was one with that name around 1988 when I went on my first holiday without my parents, first holiday overseas and first flight. Between that and the road through the village that leads to the beach there was a beachfront house that was at the time owned by a tour company called "Something Special" and a group of us that knew each other from school stayed there for a fortnight the summer the year after A levels.

The Pink Palace is at Agios Gordios, a little further south That Ag. Georgios. Stayed in that resort too - albeit a looong time ago (1994).
