Yes
Websites are almost all offering the choice of accepting or declining cookies, but the presentation of the options is less than perfect.

Many sites have a graphic that shows cookies for site functionality TURNED ON and no option to alter. That is absolutely fine.

Below that are two or three different groups of cookies that are optional and can be turned on or off via a little slider switch. However there is nothing to say what each switch position relates to.

Anyone know if there is a common standard such as LEFT for ON and RIGHT for OFF.

I agree, off is left.

I use a plug in called 'I don't care about cookies'. It switches them all off automatically for me. :)

Me too...can't be ars*d with the endless 'do you accept our cookies' questions!

I have an auto delete cookies plug which deletes them as soon as you leave the page in theory stopping sites from knowing where you have been and where you are going next so don't really bother about them too much.

That's exactly how I feel Awfers (y) I do and use everything possible to stop their tracking Duckduckgo or Startpage as my search engine a VPN, anti finger printing add ons that fakes finger prints, cookie auto delete and anti track. Sometimes although not all the time I use the TOR browser. I never get any targeted ads on things I've been looking at or even speaking about ( Mrs Badgers Android phone is really bad for this) so hopefully it is working at least to some degree.

There are usually essential cookies - apparently needed for the site to work, and functional cookies that should remember your choice so that you don't have to do the whole thing again next time. But otherwise, stats and advertising, off.

Thanks Awfers , I'll look into that as I only have an old Nokia at the moment after killing my last phone in a bicycle crash !

If you can root your phone then there are various linux installs possible too - have a look at the xda forum.

Lots of useful replies. Thanks a bunch everyone.
