Converter compatability...........your help please

Not up to speed on converter compatability

Would a 2x kenco converter be compatible with a canon 500d and 55-250is lens

You would lose AF and a couple of stops of light making the 55-250 very slow.

TCs are designed for constant f/2.8 zooms really, as lenses focus whilst being wide open though I think on some constant f/4 lenses AF is retained in some combos.

Not on the 55-250 though, it's too slow.

And the 55-250 is an EF-S lens which has sticky out bits at the bottom of the lens. I don't think it would physically fit.
