Controversial - whether single women could get IVF on NHS

Personally it's a yes. If they're going to provide it for anybody meeting whatever health related criteria they set down, they should provide it for everybody meeting those criteria. Relationship status should be irrelevant, that's not a health or previous treatment matter. Discriminating against people for being single is sickening.

Possibly even more controversial is the the number of cycles for a couple who are paying for it themselves?

I heard a news item this morning about a married couple where the husband is paralysed from the neck down. As he was married before and he & his then wife have one cycle of IVF he is not allowed any further cycles with his new wife. As mentioned they are not going via the NHS.

It seems it is in part a postcode lottery, as moving to another area they, it seems would get IVF.

Hardly seems fair for him and his new wife :(

i never said anything about her relationship status , i simply said not involving a partner for no reason was her choice, for me there simply has to be a sliding scale of importance and for me it is below.

1. standard heterosexual couples that have a problem conceiving of any kind.
2. standard heterosexual couples that have a problem conceiving for a second child that already have a child.
3. Lesbian (gay) couples that need a hand because there is not a male involved in the cycle.
4.....others

Can you explain more about non standard heterosexuals?

Should it be done at all? The world is suffering from overpopulation and there are children all over the world needing adopted. Charities are suggesting this for pets why not kids.
Discuss.

its a big stigma bringing up someone else DNA
I do believe in IVF but I also am not sure it should be available to couples who have made a different lifestyle choice.
