Continuous Ink Supply System (ciss) for Epson PX730WD, pro's vs con's

I have an Epson PX730WD printer which cost an absolute fortune (around £50 a time) to buy a set of Epson genuine colour ink's.

I tried a few compatibles but have found that the colour of the prints tend to fade quite quickly as opposed to prints that have been done with original Epson inks. Also I have experienced the ink drying up in the cartridge sometimes even before I've had a chance to use them.

I'm now considering buying a Continuous Ink Supply System but this concept is rather new to me so I am unsure which systems would be best to invest in, if at all.

Now the Pro's for me are obviously the cost savings but what are the known cons?

Is this a better or worse option to using compatibles?

Are any of these systems capable of producing prints of the same quality or close to genuine Epson ciara Inks?

I have been considering purchasing this system http://www.ink-system.co.uk/ciss/epson/stylus-px730wd.html as the company is local to me & have offered to fit/test the system if I take my printer along free of charge.

Can anyone recommend them or a better company/system to purchase?

Any advice on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there, and welcome to TP

I used to have a PX710W - very similar to your 730 - with a CISS system from 3000RPM and was extremely pleased with the results. The CISS is currently sitting in a drawer waiting for my Photo 1400's warranty to run out so I can fit it to that printer - they use the same cartirdges.

I would point out though that it's the ink you use that determines the longevity of the print and also the likelihood of the heads clogging up. Simply installing the CISS won't change those problems unless you change the inks being used too. If you're just looking to resolve the problems you've been having then I can also recommend the compatible inks sold by 3000RPM.

Hope that helps :)

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my post, looked at 3000rpm link you provided & it seems that they are only ink suppliers which is fine. I was hoping that someone could advise as to the reliabilty of http://www.ink-system.co.uk/ciss/epson/stylus-px730wd.html ciss sytems but if no one has any experience with them a guess I could maybe buy the ciss only from them & the ink from the company you recommended.

a CIS won't invalidate your warrenty

Poah,

I know, I just don't want to go removing bits of the printer - the flap that goes over the cartridges, for example) until the warranty is out.

Just me being me :)

3000rpm sell CISS kits too ... it's where I bought mine.
I'm guessing the 730 uses the same inks as the 710 - To801-806 - which can be found here : http://SPAM/bobtj5w

This looks like the one I have - can't fault it

I never had to remove anything with my R2400 CIS I suppose
