ok i have a question for people who are cleverer than me

is 100 watts of continuous light the same as 100w/s of flash, ie will they give the same exposure in the same situation.

thanks Bryan

No.
In theory, 100 watts will give off the same amount of light during a 1 second exposure as a 100Ws flash will produce during it's very short flash, usually somewhere around 1/1000th second.

In practice, it produces even less, because depending on the type of light source involved, around 2/3rds of the energy ends up as heat, rather than light.
