Contact cleaner for a sticky shutter button

So as the title says the shutter button on my XT2 is a little sticky. It happened last year when I got hit by a big wave at the coast. It works fine, it’s just not as “snappy” as it was.

Wd-40 contact cleaner would be fine to use on it wouldn’t it? Short of sending it off to someone to have it cleaned properly I can’t think of another way of cleaning it myself. I don’t fancy taking anything apart!

THIS is what I used to clean a number of dials on some Fuji gear recently - worked a treat and completely evaporated.

I use WD40 contact cleaner quite a bit, never had any problems with it on electronics
