bit of advice needed please , having a play at home portraits and would like to see live view through MacBook Air 2, sharpness composition etc, what cable do I need to connect to my z6ii , had a google but no joy, tia

I surmise you are talking about 'tethered shooting'?

If so, perhaps this will help....

As far as I can see it is a USB-C to USB-C cable

I would think it is the same cable that I mentioned but to see the live view on an external screen ..... perhaps all about the camera & MacBook settings???

You have to download stuff, and purchase stuff...
thought I might , only wanted to try it, do have affinity photo but no tethering option

Rather than MiniHDMI to USB-C then you're probably looking at a miniHDMI to whatever HDMI from factor the display requires.

thank your for that, seem its when I get to the Mac and its witchcraft that where I'm stuck, your suggestion re the mini hdmi and plug into monitor or tv sounds good will give that a go , thanks for taking the time:)
Oh! hopefully a Mac user who does tethering can chip in ?

As advised below, slightly different cable for that.

PS I am unsure about use of TV for help(?) in regard to looking at sharpness (as you mentioned that in your OP) compared to a monitor or your Mac ?

Why, well I have vague memory even about monitors having a slightly lower resolution via HDMI when compared to using (typically these days) a DP (Display Port) connection.

good point BB,i get that, then again can get my excuse in first

You need HDMI to HDMI capture card to USB-C to software like OBS. Alternatively you need USB-C cable and LR or NX studio. The HDMI port on the computer is output only...

NX studio and OBS are both free...
I know they are but after downloading NX all I get is a message to" repair or cancel " and that's as far as I get, no idea why ! not a technical person, if I can't nail it down or saw it off I'm stumped, thanks Steven

quick update. went for the monitor option, have a nest of hdmi cables in a box, ordered mini to hdmi connector , unraveled cables found a 5m one plugged into monitor found tother end was a mini anyway:mad: plugged into camera and hey presto it only works ! bit of a delay but happy , thanks for the advice much appreciated
