Hi all,
I use a Samsung 32GB SDHC class 10 card in my Nikon (D3200)
Now 99.99% of the time no problems with it, but this last 2 weeks again I have noticed that when I take the SD card out of the camera and load it into the PC (Dedicated slot) and once I have transferred the photos onto the PC and start to look at them I have noticed that some of the shots are 90 degs and I know that they were taken in (normal) view ie, holding camera Horizontal not vertical, I even had 2 upside down.
I normally format the card in camera and as said, normally never a problem although I have seen this a couple of times before.
I formatted the card again in camera yesterday and today whilst slotted in the PC hoping that helps but I wont know until later when I view my next batch, prob the weekend.
Anyone else had this problem ?
Any ideas how to resolve this problem ?

Thanks in advance

No, tbh I have not thought about that.

I have noticed the very very locationally I get the same result in Lightroom it's not a problem as they can be easily be rotated. I cant say which card it happens on but I uses Sandisk and Lexar. It's I suspect some of the embedded data is not transferring properly. As I said it happen so infrequently I don't see it as a problem. However I have decided to stop using the in built SC card reader and use an external one, as it's become a real pain reaching round the back on my iMac Plus the Lexar card reader seems a lot more positive inserting the card.

The camera orientation is recorded in image file exif data. Maybe Lightroom is reading the exif incorrectly.

That maybe the case but that's someone else's hitch with LR not mine, my problem is with when I load photos to pc and view them in Picasa, some orientated 90° and I know I have not rotated the camera.

Do they look ok on the camera screen? if so then your computer is interpreting them wrong

All OK on the camera Lcd.
Yeah could be but as said, just a small handful of shots.

my simple advice - don't use the sd card slot to read your card. every time when the PC reads the card,it adds a minor file into your SD card which will, not be read by your camera when you format it. in the end SD will get corrupted.

use the card reader or slower download using usb cable option with camera directly.

Thanks all for your comments, taken on board and I'll try a external card reader.
