Yes
Both brokers, but wait...

I' had policy with AA for several years, and changed cars no problem, so didn't expect any big noise when I got a Vectra SRI 1.9CDTI. Well they doubled my monthly premium from £25 to £50 (had an astra before). I got a cheaper quote, but AA would charge me £75 to cancel, so sat it out.

When renewal time came round, they told me they's been able to source a cheaper insurer, Royal Sun Alliance, at c£370, but tried confused.com for the first time. I was happy to receive a quote for the same level of cover for around £250, from, wait for it... Royal Sun Alliance!

Car no 2 came up for renewal this month, a Corsa (OK, OK, my name is neos and I love Vauxhalls) which was about £270 last year, but they could do it for £240 this time round, if I switched to Zurich. Whoopee, but before I whipped out my debit card, let's try confused.com: £178, same cover... you guesse i, with Zurich.

On the phone to AA, can we keep your name on file for future reference. er, no thanks.

I'm in the hunt for Home & Contents. Renewal - £493!!!! Tried confused.com today for the first time and got a quote of £297.30!! What a saving :)

I went through Confused.com a few weeks ago. www.insure.co.uk came up cheapest. I went direct to insure.co.uk, same details, £100 cheaper than confused.com!

I always get as many quotes as possible from multiple sources just to make sure I'm getting the cheapest deal. :D At the moment, I'm using a small insurance broker called A-Plan. They seem to do pretty good deals for people with "performance" cars.

my insurance was £455 and is now £378.

Why do i pay so much? I have 9 years no claims, live in a posh area and have no convictions. its not fair.

hehe. Group 20+ car, matty?

Having been through a couple of claims (which were no fault of mine) everything was so easy with Direct Line that I'm willing to pay the bit extra that they charge. Rental car arrived quickly and mine was taken away and fixed. I could even specify a preferred repairer. No forms just a couple of phone calls.

I used the confused.com web site for comparison this renewal and wish I hadn't - I've had calls from insurance companies looking for business. Annoying but I kind of enjoyed telling the callers what I thought of being pestered :)

I had a similar thing when my car insurance came up for renewal. I'm with Norwich Union Direct, and my policy had gone up rather than down (even though I hadn't made any claims ). Confused.com gave me a cheaper quote, still with Norwich Union, but an even cheaper one with another company (I think it may have been Barclays). I got on the phone to N.U.D to cancel my policy, explaining the reasons why, and they instantly dropped their price to match the cheaper Barclays one :D

i couldnt be bothered to shop around this year as i was too busy pre christmas. my insurance came out cheaper anyway, so i was happy, saved myself a few quid

A tip for anyone using sites such as Confused.com. If one of the quotes it gives is for Post Office Insurance. Knock £50 off the quoted price as they will send you £50 postal order back after your insurance starts.
I did this and with the £50 off, I saved about £40 compared to the lowest quote given on confused.com. The policy turned out to be with Norwich Union and a quote off them directly was about £100 more.

Confused did me a favour too - I'd not shopped around for a few years and thought it was time I did - saved close to £100 on what Nationwide wanted. Rang Nationwide to tell them I'd not be renewing and the chap said "Oh well, let's have a look at the quote and see what we can do" to which I explained that there weas realy no point - after all, if he came back with something cheaper at that stage, we'd BOTH know they'd just been trying it on when they quoted first off, wouldn't we! He couldn't really argue with that!

when i upgraded from my poor little rover100 to my focus my original insurance company quoted my £1900, i shopped around and got a better deal of £550. i then phoned my current insurers to cancel my policy and send me my NCD certificate, the woman on the other end said "ill see what we can do, ill talk to my manager" so she went off and came back "my manager says we will go down to £1000 on that insurance, would you accept that?".... the poor woman sounded hurt when i explained that i had found a company that would insure me for £450 cheaper and althought they have me down as stupid im most certainly not.

******s!
