Hi all i hope i make sence here.

i was woundering is there any other way to see what has been looked at on the internet other than history or internet options?

thanks in advance

Terri

Yes go to start and right click the internet icon, then select internet properties and in browsing history select settings and then view files

thank you for that. it is the same as i get going through "tools". but thank you again

all it is, is i want to see what has been looked at over the internet. but it seems someone has got a little clever and has started to delete items they don't want me to see. and no it is nothing to do with xmas.. i am just trying to protect them.

again thanks

There is another way if you have vista, go to the username in the start menu, click searches and then recently changed

thank you just had a look and will keep an eye on that. i know i am sounding over protective but i just need to do all i can.. and looking it seems i have nothing to worry about just want to make sure

The only thing I will say is dont use CRTL+A to select all for a mass delete as it usually removes pics and docs you may need:thumbs:

I use XP so cannot speak accurately for Vista.
Windows has traditionally had "index.dat" files which store the url's, date, time and username for each website visited. Most of these files are locked and cannot be viewed or deleted by straightforward means.
Try doing a Windows search for files of that name.

Free viewers and cleaners are available. Google will throw them up.
CCleaner is a good free program for getting rid of internet rubbish etc.

they could also be using private browsing so your comp doesnt store any files or history of what they visit. the only real way to limit someones use it to give them there own account and limit what they can do (remove the ability to delete history) so you can check on them.

thanks everyone for the advice...taken it all on board..again thank you
