Does anyone know any good tips or guides for getting good composition?

I find I have no problems getting well focused and exposed shots, but my composition is somewhat lacking...

Can composition even be taught? Or is it one of those things that comes with experience? Thanks. :)

I'm sure there are many books/internet articles about composition if you look around. I find using trial and error to be a good way of learning as is looking at some of the critique sections on here. There are plenty of tips if you look.

Try Rule of Thirds, or Golden Mean. Use the composition grid display on your camera if its available. think about lead-in lines, framing, not placing the horizon dead centre, avoid bright areas on the edge of the picture. Change your view point/shooting position/height. Most of all, look at books or the work of other good photographers in your area of interest.

Composition can be taught and it is one of those things that comes with experience :)

Have a look here http://www.ronbigelow.com/articles/articles.htm
Look at the previsualisation articles and some of the others as well as the composition ones.
