Hello.

My name is Gareth, and I am a complete photography novice. The only cameras I have had have been ones on Mobile Phones, or point and click digital/film cameras.

I bought myself a Camera recently, in the hope to learn how to take some decent photo's. I have always been interested in taking pictures, and so I decided to buy myself a proper digital camera.

The camera I bought is a Kodak EasyShare Z712 IS, with a 4GB memory card and a protective carry case. I would appreciate it if people could let me know if I have got a Good Camera or a naff camera, I don't mind if peoples views are negative, as I am a novice and it is a good starting point either way.

Thanks for the welcome. I am looking to get a hang of taking decent pictures, learning some techniques and finding a few thinks that I am interested in to take pictures of, then I will think of upgrading to something more technical. Just hope I can get some decentpicts withthis camera first.

Welcome and remember Litchfield,Snowdon and Bailey probably started with lesser kit than the Kodak Easyshare !!!!

Hi and welcome

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. :)

Hello :)

Check out the tutorials section. Reading the one on the 'rule of thirds' will help you move from snaps to photographs ;) Other useful stuff in that section too.

Hi Gaz - I've only got a 7 yr old Casio QV3000 myself at present ( soon to be upgraded to DSLR ) but digital gives you much more freedom than film. Most Kodaks are decent cameras. Have a look at my gallery to see what can be done with a 3MP compact digital. ( plus a bit of Paint Shop Pro & Photoshop Elements ) :welcome:
