HIya folks - been mega busy lately - not posted for a while.

Anyway,

My mam is looking for a small digi camera to buy for my bro in law.

The brief is ....

compact
under £100

He will only be using it for simple snapshots / blog type photos (stuff of my nephew who is 2, days out, etc).

Any recommendations on what is decent ? I have also just bought the wife one for xmas - but spent £165 on a Panasonic FX33 which is a bit out of my mams price range.

Advice appreciated as always.

The Canon Powershot range are pretty reliable and good at about 75 quid and above, i think the A460 or something? if not amazon have a thing where u can search for digital cameras at a specific price range :)

The current Canon "A" range of compacts in my opinion are excellent, I used to have the old A95, even at 5 mp it was damm good and is still a sought after camera due to it using cf cards and having the swing out viewer screen. The latest A range use sd cards.
If the budget can be stretched further look at the spec on this one.

I bought an Olympus fe 210 for the wife, she loves it :)

Any Kodak C series. They are seriously good and very easy to use and have enough features. Image quality is staggering.
I have seen them in ASDA as a special for as low as £45 which frankly is a ridiculous price.

Just a though:

Mother in Law went out and bought herself a small digital camera. The big LCD screen on the back showed her what she was taking . Thought it was wonderful in the shop. Only problem was 3 months down the line she was finding it difficult to take pictures 'cos the screen wasn't bright enough to cope with even average daylight.

Bought her a Canon with screen and viewfinder last Christmas. She's really pleased with it ,and loads of brownie points for me

I have an A570IS, and it's great. I bought it from 7dayshop.com for £115, and with a £25 rebate (unfortunately now finished) it was £90. You could get it for ~£90 on ebay from HK, or go £15 over the budget. It has 4x zoom, Image Stabilising and a viewfinder (my mum has a digital camera and exclusively uses the viewfinder - she's not very good with electronics...).
