Compact point and shoot

hello all,

looking at getting the parents a P&S for christmas, will spend around 100-120

whats the best i am likely to get?

looking at Nikon Coolpix's and Panasonic Lumix's but not sure whats best, prefer to spend less than 100 if possible that gives decent results, one catch here though is i DONT want to be recommended a canon

Nikon P60? VR etc can be had for £75 delivered from Fleabay. Oh and the D300 is in it's new sleeping bag now

Panasonic TZ series they have 10x zoom.

you have to think like them to get them somethgn they will actuly use. interface is a big deal, if they have to fiddle around in lots of menus to do basic stuff then they wont. they probably wont be taking it out clubbing so they don't need the kind with 3 buttons (a shutter relese and zoom in and out) something with 3 or 4 settings is probably enough.

basically get a list baisd around things they would actually use, then apply your knowledge about digital photography to it (knowing how much difference a megapixel makes, and that nikon is far suppior to cannon any day, ect)

As far as i know the panasonic TZ series are all just auto, i know my TZ3 is anyway, no manual controls just scene modes.
