compact digital camera.....

looking to get one for my daughter for christmas...bit of an addition to her already sizeable list.must cost no more than £100,and be around the 7-8MP range,or enough resolution to get quality 8x10inch prints....any suggestions greatly accepted..

Im not sure on models but ive always had Canon compacts and would shoose them over Nikon, not sure about the others. My DSLR is Nikon but I love Canon compacts.To be honest most of the camera are quite good these days, you shouldnt struggle to get one.

I recently bought a Canon A570 IS ( linky )
for less than £100 off flea bay it was mostly used for underwater shots ( in a housing)

but heres one I took just messing around
(EXIF intact) the image size ( Was) is 3072 x 2304 Px which equates to 17.067 ins x 12.8 ins
Just a slight tweak ( it was a bit dark as I shot it inside looking out) and a resize

Canon generally do better p+s stuff then Nikon, however I bought a Nikon P60 as a pressie for someone recently as it has VR and a nice big rear screen and feels like a proper camera, it was around £75 delivered (or £130 from Dixons...) iirc

Recently got canon A720 IS from Canon Outlet on ebay under £100 , they are refurbs but new with full warranty .
