...do they exist?

i've done a search but nothing strikes out as up to date info. I wanted to build up the age old 'strobist' kit. I've read about bogen stuff but i tihnk they are getting pricey?

Anywhere else to buy the whole lot eg, shoot thru brollies, flash/umbrella mounts for the stands?

THanks in advance

You can get cheap stands (£10 from 7dayshop) or compact (Manfrotto 001B "nano" at around £45) but not both - the choice is yours ;)

Bogen is the name Manfrotto is sold under in the US. Calumet have a good line of stands, umbrella adapters etc, which look and feel as if they are made for them by Manfrotto, but sell for less.

cheers for the info. I found the bogen / Manfroto nano's but for £45 each I think its a lot for me considering I'm a beginner (Might go down that route if I use it alot more)

I'll look at 7day but on ebay I saw these?

thoughts?

I wouldn't buy Nanos for first stands, you'd have to search high and low for anywhere with them in stock anyway - there was a pair on Fleabay recently that sold for more used than I'd paid the day before for new ones

Re those Ebay stands - you'd get three of the 7dayshop ones, delivered for the delivered price of the two Ebay ones. The difference would buy you an umbrella or two ;)

I've got a couple of these...sold by Netgadgets via Amazon....£13.95 ea

Good enough for my occasional use.

Both look identical to my 7Day stands (n.b. the bag can hold a small brolly and clamp - but they don't come with them)

How sturdy/heavy are they, Simon? I could do with one stand to mount my Ezybox on, it's a bit top heavy for the nanos

They are pretty sturdy - I don't have an Ezybox so I can't be sure but for what 7day are charging it's worth a punt IMO (you can always flog on here).

I don't think I'd like to use them outside in windy conditions without weighting the bottom slightly

Exactly my thoughts, so I've risked the £10.99 and ordered one

I've got sandbags, so no doubt one of those will do the job of stabilising it nicely outdoors.

Can someone link me to the stands as I cannot find them.

Thank you.
