Comet Flash information

I have need of information regarding a Japanese brand of electronic flash named Comet.

I also have need of someone who can repair them. They made several models of power packs and heads which I found out are NOT interchangeable. What I need mostly is some idea of which heads go with which power packs and how to tell the difference between them. (The power packs are marked, but often, the heads are not) I learned this by sacrificing a P.P. and head, that is the reason for the repair. There appear to be 3-4 different models (CL, CX, CBW, and one that is battery powered) plus at least one moonlight (no need for that). If you have any information, brochures, contacts, that would help me not blow up any more of these, I would appreciate it.

They were sold in America, so for general info it could be worth asking on an American photo forum as well, if you can see a way to do that.

Actually, I've listed the same message on several in the US. I had a thought they would be marketed in the UK as well, hence this listing. Thus far the results are not as promising as I'd expected. When these were first introduced they were remarkable for the size and weight reduction they had over virtually all of the competition. I saw them at a Professional Photographers of America convention in Chicago and marveled at the miniaturization of both the power packs and the light heads. At the time, I was working with Speedotron lights which were some of the lightest, quality, flash units available, but the Comets just blew them away.

Fair enough, but AFAIK they have never been marketed in the UK, although I could be wrong about that.

The only reason that I know anything about them at all is that I've worked with quite a lot of Chinese manufacturers and several of them have made light modifiers in the very small and unusual Comet fitting, presumably for export to Japan. Again, AFAIK Comet has never sold in China, not surprising because Chinese people have long memories of the last Japanese invasion.

Have you tried www.photo.net ? That's the only forum that I think may have members who can help, other than that I don't have any ideas I'm afraid.
