What printer, inks and paper?

epson 1500 printer set of inks from ink express in wolverhampton in a continuous in system i tried a few different papers some i have had for a while and i thought paper age might have something to do with it so i used paper that came with the printer, epson glossy paper. whats baffling is that the printing looks fine when it comes out of the printer but changes after a while.

3rd party inks are probably the problem.

i understand what you mean but they sell loads of these systems it would have come up before surely?

Are you running with a profile made specifically for your choice of paper and ink used ?.

You have to let the ink dry, also is the paper made for dye inks (as your using) or is it pigment only ?.
most papers will support both ink types but not all.

As mbo says. you must profile using a perfectly dry image. All images change in the way you describe, but some more than others.

Inks will slowly diffuse into the carrier layer of the paper. Some do this quicker than others. This effects the "stable" colour of the images after this drying process takes place. Some ink/paper combinations are less prone to this than others. I suspect it's this "drying" process that you are seeing

The Epson printer driver will be calibrated for Epson ink and paper. So you will need to make allowance for this drift when printing. You may find a simple offset cures the problem but you will need to let the print dry thoroughly before evaluating them.

Did you notice this problem when using Epson branded ink.

Just to reiterate the above... 3rd party inks although a money saver for your everyday printing, are no good for image printing (in my experience). I only use authentic cartridges. Also, we used to have another Canon printer, used the authentic inks for awhile, then went to 3rd party for awhile, then went BACK to the Canon inks... and it never printed out the same after that (using the 3rd parties). I just don't trust them. I keep my costs down by sending off any big print jobs to my printer I use, and only print in house for smaller projects.

And paper... don't scrimp on paper. You use cheap paper, you'll get cheap results. :)
