I have been using a Tiffen ND 3.0 10 Stop Filter for my landscapes on a Canon 17-40 f4 L and now on a 24-105 f4 L lens, It has dreadful red colour cast on it, Without shelling out for the Lee or the Hitech versions at the minute as this one cost me a few pounds anyway is there a way of adjusting Custom White Balance to compensate for the colour cast as i aint a big fan of over Photoshopping

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, it's pretty easy to set a custom white balance on Canon cameras.
With the filter mounted, take a shot of a white sheet of paper or well lit white wall filling the frame.
Then go into the menu to set that image to your custom white balance.
Once stored in the camera you can then set the white balance to custom whenever you use the filter.

Craig,

I would suggest you to leave (if you shoot RAW that is!)
the WB on auto for one thing. Second, take a studio test
shot of anything (and without the ND filter) where a WB
card or other neutral reference is visible. Take a second
shot of the same scene but this time with the ND filter.

In your converter, you should be able to measure the K°
difference and safe it as a style (or else) that may be ap-
plied automatically when ever the same filter is used.

Beat me to it.

Shoot a reference neutral grey card without it then with it under the same lighting and in your raw converter use the colour picker to neutralise them both and record the difference.

Cheers guys, i have just bought the neutral black white and grey colour cards, I will give that a go when i go out again sometime next week and see if it helps, Thanks i appreciate that.
