Just questioning my logic, I have a Benq SW271 which loaded the colour profile into the monitor using their Palette Master software & a Spyder 5 directly plugged into it.
Based on this do I have a need anymore to have the Spyder Utility installed on my PC as I should not need to use it to calibrate the monitor anymore?

It is my understanding that whether the calibration data is loaded into the video card or the monitor itself it will need to be updated by recalibration because the monitor will age and its characteristics will drift and thus need to be compensated for.

If there is a difference between hardware calibration of the likes of the BenQ that you have and loading a profile into the video card LUT I look forward to improving my understanding.

I do regularly recalibrate, mostly because the monitor has a nag message on screen when it has not been done for a certain amount of time.

I don't think there is a need for the software when doing it in monitor but I am yet to find confirmation. I might drop an email into benq to ask them next.
