Help required please .... I think I am having a serious grey hair day and need some assistance please.

I have just bought an X-rite i Studio screen/printer colour calibrator as I have a MacBook Pro 2016 and a Benq SW2700 colour monitor.

I ran the X-rite calibration for both screens and saved the profiles to the Mac Book... I assume.

I run the MacBook Pro and Benq monitor such that they are mirror images. This allows me to edit on the bigger screen etc. but using the Mac keyboard etc.

I then downloaded the software for the X-rite Colour Checker 2/mini etc. and when I started to run it told me that my monitor calibration was over 30 days old. Not 30 minutes. I checked the "Display" and this is where I am having a meltdown. The Mac tells me I am using the profile for the built-in display which is correctly set. However it also say the same thing for the Benq monitor (within Mac). I change the profile for the Benq and it also changes it as the profile for the Mac built-in display. I know you can use the Benqs own display calibration software but there are differing views on whether you should use it. How do I get the monitor and Mac book to each use their own colour profiles?

any assistance would be gratefully received.

I suspect the problem is because you're mirroring, rather than treating each screen individually. Not used 2 screens on a Mac for some years now, so that's all the advice I can offer.

Correct, you can only have two different calibrations if you use the second screen as an extra screen. Mirroring only allows one or the other profile.

Thanks Toni and Chris. I think I am going to set up my MacBook Pro such that I only use the Benq as my main screen and have a separate Bluetooth keyboard and magic mouse and leave it all set up for photo editing. I have a separate iPad pro and iPhone I can use for surfing the net.
