colour black and white

if i had a picture that i wanted b&w except say a ballon (shindlers list type thing) how would i do it can i just change it to b&w and then erase over the part i want.

i would try and search for it but i dont really know what to search for

Funnily enough not my thing, but it is great to know how's it done. Do search for other methods too. E.g. I use to know how to change a green jumper to a red one. Think I could go and do it, but would take a bit of practice til it all comes back to me.

thats strange cause i was thinking i would liked to have changed the colour of courtneys jacket ( the one on the left ) to brighten it up abit

gonna see if i can find a tut on that
