colour banding on image after saving file.

And thanks in advance.
when I do a small edit on adobe LrC then transfer to Ps to complete edit, in RGB colour 16 bit.
Then save file in Jpeg , will have to do 8 bit for printers requirements.
Looks great on screen, but when I email the image to myself or someone else.
I get banding if I put a soft glow in background or sometimes just a lot of colour marks in basic backdrop.
I feel I'm following basic instruction but not really getting any where.

Is this a problem with visible steps between different shades of colour, and what quality level are you saving at? Higher compression (for a smaller file size) can cause strange looking artifacts, particularly in skies.

As Toni suggests it sounds like over compression. Check your email client settings, some will compress or scale attachments.

Try adding a small amount of noise.
