hi guys
Wondering if I had a dual display setup for photoshop & lightroom , would I need to profile both monitors with colormuki ?

I do both of my ones, but it depends if you use both to check your pics or just one.

It can profile both, yes.
If you only use the second screen for toolbars and the lightroom thumbnails etc, then there's no need though.

would it make sense to use my old monitor(Benq xl2410) as the second screen eg toolbars & thumbnails ,then use the dell u2412m as the main screen ?
Or do I bite the bullet & buy a second dell u2412m ?

Unless you actually need to work on both screens, no, it makes no sense. I just use an old Dell 2007 4:3 screen in portrait mode as a second screen. It's just to contain tools etc so my main screen is all image.

Yes.

I have 2 2312s next to my iMac and profile all 3 separately. Colours on the Dells are a little different from those on the iMac but with 2 identical screens they should be very close.

So how should I setup with my old monitor & my new dell with Lightroom ?

Shouldn't really require any special setup. Just get both working, calibrate them, launch LR. Then you'll have options for your second monitor in the bottom left hand corner.

so how have you guys got your screens setup ?
Dell with ?
second screen with ?

I have two dell 2209wa and have the pallets, brushes etc on one screen and a full screen preview on the other.

Are you talking about Photoshop or Lightroom? The options in LR are fairly limited. I usually leave it on "Loupe - Normal"
