It is comming up to another solar eclipse in the UK. 14th March. I think I am going to need a polorised filter for this. P 164. I was wondering if Cokin are the only people? Maybe others more resonably priced. I know Cokin tend to be glass and better though.

I think you need to look into what polariser filters are. They are not for eclipses. You need a solar filter. Make sure it's a good one too or your eyes / camera will be shot.
And Cokin filters have always been low quality resin filters from my experience.

Most of the cheaper Cokin filters are actually made of a type of polycarbonate resin developed by Columbia Resins and these are generally regarded as entry level filters. They also sell a more expensive range of glass filters using glass supplied by Schott AG, part of the Carl Zeiss group.
Am also not sure that a polariser filter is the right filter to use in order to either protect your eyes or your camera equipment.

And you can still see? A less well known symptom of looking at the sun without correct filtration is screwing up your colour vision. Red things appear green / blue. Blues appear red etc.
And it's not reversible if this happens.

I am not stupid. I have taken loads of eclipses all over the word with DSLR. Not looking directly and I still have 20-20 vision. I think this comment is intended more for the stupid morons who want to look at it directly. Not a photographer who has done this before.

I've got some cockin filters, grad nd. I'm happy with them.
My be a case of having any is better than none. Can remember a long time ago I was looking for snow tyres looking at reviews etc and was looking at something like £400+. Friend told me I don't need the most expensive, I just a set of winter tyres that will be better than the summer tyres.

Minimum recommended filter is a 16 stop but solar filters are higher than that.
Just Google it.
