Code Replacement not transfering into Lightroom ??

Hi all,

I’m just getting to grips with Photo Mechanic and am using it at football to quickly tag players at football matches. I have set up variables in the IPTC dialog box which automatically applies this data on entry to my photographs in PM (brilliant!). With my pictures in one folder along with the .XMP file if I get Lightroom to read the pictures and information from this same folder all metadata comes across into Lightroom!!......... Everything BUT my replacement code?

I have a “caption” of the day itself with variables updating but if for example looking back at my pictures. I have player number four in the caption in PM I type “\4\” which reads my text file and automatically inserts the players details into the caption of PM (perfect). I save it and progress to the next picture. If I go into Lightroom afterwards all my IPTC text is there, the variables… Everything… but would anyone know why is my “replacement code” of the individual player is not showing in Lightroom’s MetaData? (not so perfect)

I do something similar without any issues. My photos are in lightroom and then I caption in PM. The. In lightroom read the metadata from file and all is good. Would be worth double checking the captions are correct in PM by reopening the image
