I noticed yesterday that i had quite a few smears bits of dust etc on my camera all on the outside and non on the inside (yet) whats the best way to clean the exterior of the camera and lenses and also are there any special bits to clean the sensor and other internal gubbins should i need to?

Cheers

rikki1q Be very careful and make sure that you really do know what you're doing if you attempt to clean your sensor!!!! As for the outside and lenses you can get lens cloths, blower brushes ect to do that job. if I get fingerprints ect on my lenses I usually use moistned spectical cleaning cloths and they do a great job.

Well HERE you can find a very handy thread on sensor cleaning as written by our very own RobertP. A good many of us on here have followed this method and found it works really well, and frankly if I can do it then anyone can. Well, nearly anyone, mentioning no names *cough*Janice*cough*!

As for the outside, the small lenspens you can buy I find excellent for cleaning dust out of the viewfinder - you can get one in a triangular shape which is perfect for getting into the corners. Other than that for mine I must admit I don't worry too much about a bit of dirt on the camera body itself - if it's getting dusty you're not using it regularly enough! (oo-er missus!)

My first job out of school was in a 2nd hand camera shop on tottenham court road. All the the gear that we bought in was treated to a scrub down using windowlene and a toothbrush.

Of course camera kit was pretty much all made of metal then but it actually works relly well and I do still get scrubbing on occasion still.
