Cleaning your focusing screen?

My 30D has a little hair on the focusing screen, and while it isn't a problem, and I'm grown up enough to leave it alone, I was just wondering how hard it would be to get rid of.

When I got my first 350, I did get a bit of crud on the focusing screen, and in my stupidity tried to clean it with a lenspen brush :bonk:.

Im just wondering if a little blow with a bulb blower would shift it, or would it make it worse?

You're safe enough giving it a blow Marcel - you could even try an artic butterfly if you HAD to.

All I can say is that I had the same problem with my 400D and a quick "blow job" sorted it

I cleaned my 20D screen successfully with a lenspen brush but I gave it a static charge and good clean by blasting it with canned air before use. I cleaned the 5D screen with a rocket blower and got most of the crud off.

Screens don't stay clean for long so I'm used to a few bits being there so I don't do it very often. Once a year maybe.

If it is a stubborn little blighter, then focusing screens on Canons are easy enough to take out and re-insert.

They are held in with a spring clip.
