Yes
Just got a new lens and the connectors are a bit messed up. I have to constantly keep unlocking and locking it into place or I get the f-- error on my D90.

Is there any way I can clean or improve the connection?

Best is to use a pencil rubber, just be careful where the bits go

I've done that now and it helped a bit but its not quite there yet. Anything else I can do?

The connecter pins on the lens are spring loaded, sometimes they can stick, check that they are all functioning properly by gently pushing them in and out a couple of times.

Probaby nothing to do with it, but, if it is a lens with an aperture ring, have you made sure it is at the largest f number.

Failure to do this can cause the F-- error.

its on the largest aperture and locked there. I haven't cleaned the camera contacts and am kind of scared to do so. How do I go about doing that?

I find some gentle rubbing with a cotton bud dipped in isopropyl alcohol to be the best way to clean electrical contacts.

Thats the FEE error. This one is different.

I've done all of that but it hasn't helped. It's not the camera because none of my other lenses get this problem.

Ok. So I've found it the camera gets the f-- error as soon as metering turns off. Odd. How do I set metering to be constantly on with the D90?
