Yes
I want to clamp a D50 to the front forks of a mountain bike and take some shots with a wide angle lens looking back over.

Is there anything on the market that is available to do this. I am not looking at going very fast over rough ground. Probably on the road with remote shutter release and slow enough shutter speed to induce some blur on the road.

Any thoughts on what I could use?

Bob

I'm looking forward to this answer Bob because I've been looking for something similar except I want to mount mine on a showjumping wing just above the top pole. :D

I think Manfrotto do something called a superclamp but I can't see how the camera attaches to it.

brave souls... I'd wrap your kit in meters of bubble-wrap too. it might not be sexy but you'll still have working kit!! and UV protection filter too perhaps>

Something like this (quick search). Most engineering sites have clamps and things so have a browse at their sites. Much cheaper than Photog Gear.

could you not bodge something together from an old mountainbike stem around the handlebars all you then need to do is connect the camera to the stem using a tripod mount (maybe buy an ali manfrotto quick release plate tig welded on?)
