I was wondering of anyone had any experience of CIS on either of these two printers:

Epson Photo 950 or HP Photosmart 7760.

I know CIS are much more common on Epson and Canon printers than any others but would be happy to go with either printer. The only issue I have with using the Epson is that at the minute one of the cartridges is coming up as empty even though I have tried a full new one in it....have been told that I will have to get an Espon original to sort this issue....would this happen with a CIS as well?

TIA

Cheers Chris....will have a look

...a good website but a very limited range of CIS systems.

Anyone else with any experience of these printers and CIS?

I've tried inkexpress cis with mixed results. This first one leaked and they sent me some parts to try to fix it myself but ink reservoir was leaking, they sent me a new one no problems. I bought a spyder3print profiling kit. I found the yellow inks were just wrong compared to my Epson Inks. So back to paying a small fortune for genuine inks. I would have loved it to work but it didn't for me. Maybe a more expensive cis system would be better but would save you less.

No other replies?

I am surprised. I would have thought that this would have been ripe ground for CIS usage but maybe not.

the inks are different makes so it's unlikely they will match. profiling should correct errors but if your monitor is not great or your ink profiles too then you'll not see good results.

I have the city ink express cis sysytem on me epson and no problems so far apart from the fact I primed it incorrectly first time and spilt a load of yellow ink everywhere but that was my fault:cuckoo:.
I can say with the version I have, there is a cartridge reset button on it so you can reset the chip so it shows full again with no problems so far.

Monitor calibrated.. but as I said yellows were miles out more goldish colour. Printer profiling will only correct so much, you have to start the profiling with good colours.

Ive also tried the Iris cis with better results but really do prefer the Epson inks. Dont get me wrong I want cheaper printing but I so rarely print on my home printer I just want it to work.
