I want to purchase a 77mm circular polarizing filter for use in landscape photography here in South Africa,it needs to be good quality to be used in conjunction with my Nikon D3s, Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8 and Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8 lenses. It will probably have to be a slim profile for the wider end of the 24-70 lens, I may get my brother in the UK to buy it for me and post out, does anyone have any recommendations please?

B & W and you will probably get away with the normal version on the 24 end though if you did want to go wider you would need the slim profile, but then much lower than that and you begin to get banding.

I bought a Sigma EX DG CPL, nice slim profile, very happy with it, usually using on a 16 - 85mm on a D300, no problems at the wide end and excellent IQ.

Yes they are and a lot cheaper than B & W. I had a UV HD and the CPL HD and I must admit it made the images in daylight pop

Thanks for all your replies, helped me make my decision easier, cheers.

Neil, if you have any filters for your lenses, try holding one against the end of the lens's thread without screwing it on. If it causes any vignetting, a normal profile CP probably will too. TBH, pols can introduce uneven banding on skies at 24mm on FF so you might well get away with the normal rather than low profile version. Not sure how different prices are between the 2 profiles but for a tenner or so, I would be tempted to get the low profile version.
