Hi, basically as per title which are the best to get. The other filters I own are uv ones and are the hoy pro 1 versions. What would people advise going for with regards to the circular polarizer and why?

cheers

A CPL roundup in this months Digital Photographer put the B&W Circular polariser on top due to its superior coatings. It was however a lot more expensive than the others. Ive got a B&W ND filter, and can confirm that they make very good quality filters. The ND one weighs loads more, and feel far better than any of my other filters.

Buy whichever Hoya fits your budget! :D
I'd agree with that. The nice thing with Canon L glass is most of the zooms use a 77mm filter which means you only need the one - very handy when you see the price of big CPs!

Last time I recommended http://hvstar.net/ I had not used them, but I have now (quite literally now as my order only arrived today!) and their service was as good as all the recommendations I had read.

They mainly deal in filters and as it is a Hong Kong company the price difference compared to the UK is amazing.

Michael.

Thanks for the heads up on that company Michael, very competitive prices :)

I changed over from Hoya Pro to B+W filters last year including the CPL......it's down to personal opinion as to if you think the price difference is worth it but I've no regrets

Ive heard this too and am waiting for mine to arrive from here http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/hkdirect/

Can you please update this thread when your filter arrives as im in the market still for a cpl filter. im not sure if hoya or b&w filters will be best. the ones i have currently are hoya pro-1 uv ones, mainly for lens protection. i would be interested to know how you get on with it :)

I've got a bog standard Hoya CPL on the way... should be here tommorow.

Never had one before so cannot give you a comparison, but the second its here I'll be doing some test shots!

I bought a B&W polariser and scratched in first outing  (fingers like pigs tits!) so have just bought a Hoya CPL as it was cheaper. Thanks for the link MIJ.
