Wanting to get one of these to try out with my 5Dc and 17-40. Don't want to spend the earth so are there any in particular that you guys would recommend?

Thanks in advance.

Are you using a filter system of any kind?

If not, I expect a 77mm is what you're after. With a UWA lens like yours, it'll need to be as thin as possible not to vignette at 17mm. Don't scrimp on it as you'll only be disappointed, the higher priced Hoya and B+W are good but anything in the high £xx to low £xxx is going to be a good starting point.

Fair enough, I was worried you'd say that! Guess I'll have a shop around. Thanks.

Buy Marumi they perform just as well as the much more expensive Hoya and b&w models. The dhg or dhg super versions are the ones to get, remember at 17mm you will need to be very careful to get an even effect across the frame.

If you plan on using slot in filters at some point it will get extremely expensive, as they are generally 105mm to go on the front of the filter holders, but if you need to use them with ND & grad filters, save up for the 105mm, you will soon get frustrated trying to line every thing up.
