Hi,

I need an adaptor so that I can charge my OMD batteries from the van cigarette lighter. The charger has a USB socket, and a small USB / large USB cable. I've seen fast charging mentioned as well; is that relevant?

I've looked online and there's lots of them but they seem to be specifically for phones. Will they all charge a camera battery as well? How do I know which one to get?

Thanks.

Yeah, they will if you have the relevant USB charger.

Post five.

Take a look at these - inov8 universal li-ion battery charger.

On the bay atm for around £15-18

Pick up a belkin one.

i use a usb to charge ip a high capacity power brick and charge batteries, etc from the brick. Lets me keep charging when engine off and top the power brick up on the move. There’s enough juice in the brick to do 8-10 camera batteries without a recharge.

Thanks for the suggestions but I really do want just a simple cigarette lighter > USB adaptor....... but I want to make sure it charges camera batteries as well as phones.

I use a UniPal Plus charger when on holiday - charges an assortment of camera batteries and has a USB socket to boot. Comes with UK and European plugs as well as a car power plug.

They're all "much of a muchness"! I got the UniPal one by default - I bought a second hand compact a few years ago and after negotiating a small discount (£35 down to £30 IIRC), they couldn't find the charger. Easiest option for them (it was a busy morning) was to give me the UniPal instead and the ticket price for that was £29.99!

Oh, and you're probably already aware but just in case, some car/van power sockets are only live when the ignition is on.
