I've started to use Opera over the last few days but the colour rendition of my photo's that i upload to Flickr is shocking compared to how i save them in Lr5 or cs6.... Can i alter the settings or is it just one of those things? Switched back to Chrome and all is good again.

Cheers.
David.

What colour space are you saving to?

Some browsers understand colour space, some don't.

I would look at Firefox, it's the best for colour management, Chrome is pretty poor, especially if you have a wide gamut screen.

Having said that Firefox is my least favourite browser despite its colour management credentials.

Hmm James, thankyou very much. Just installed it and it does seem much better than both. It's also sharp whereas Chrome was a little blurry tbh.

Good call!

Just out of curiosity, why is it your least favourite?

Is Colour Management actually enabled on your Chrome install? As far as I remember you had to append "--enable-monitor-profile" at the end of the chrome.exe command in the shortcut, which then assumed that all content was sRGB, this was when ICC profiles were supported in Chrome so things MAY have changed!

I'm not sure Neil tbh. I have noticed that when i save an image in Lr5 it is set to sRGB but in cs6 it says ICC Profile ProPhoto RGB. Is that right? If not, how do i change it?

I just don't like the ui, it all feels a bit 90s to me, no real reason! It also doesn't feel as fast as Chrome. I've been using Opera since they were the first with tabbed browsing and mouse gestures so that's got a soft spot with me :)

Opera is good, i like it alot. Everything seems sharper but it's slow imo. Chrome is quick but blurry. FF seems ok to me, it's not like i'm on it all day for it to make much notice as i don't really use any of the tools it comes with.

Thanks btw. :)

Opera should not be slow - quite the opposite and very similar to Chrome in performance.

Do you have the turbo function on? That causes images to be compressed through opera's servers, causing a reduction in IQ (but should speed up a slow connection). How much memory does you machine have? Some sites that open longer and longer pages can cause memory issues.

Your welcome :)

I pretty much live on the internet LOL - I have my own sites and work with some others so I test on all major browsers and phones/tablets - it gets a bit boring!! But some browsers are definitely better at things than others (like images and FF).

Anyway, glad that I could help!

6Gb should be fine. That's very odd then.

Is the slowness in Operas responsiveness or the speed at which pages are delivered? There was a time when you could go in 'under the hood' and adjust various parameters to optimise speed.

Good to know James. :)

Its the page rendering A_M. The responsiveness is fine and it hides my IP so I can visit the torrent sites. when opening another site up with the + tab it would hang whereas other browsers would just do it straight away. The machine is cabled also so it wasn't a problem with the wireless network.
