There's a competition going at work, where we've got two weeks to put in a couple of photographs for a Christmas card.

The question is, and the inspiration I'm seeking, is how do I take photographs without snow and decorations in November, and still give the Christmas vibe?

Any ideas appreciated. Bearing in mind, I'm still very much a beginner, and don't particularly want to process the images to give Christmasy effects.

Use the environment, look for some deer, log fires, the idea of 'giving'

Whoops, missed off some key info. The photos will be transport themed, and to be taken in the city centre.

May struggle with deer, fires and a manger :)

That would have been useful to have known earlier on. :bang:

TBH, I'm struggling to think of any christmas themed transport photo opportunities in Manchester city centre, without resorting to photoshop trickery. Paste in santa's sleigh flying over Victoria station? A tinsel adorned tram?

Go and sit on a motorway bridge, and wait for the Coca Cola lorry to come past :p

So Christmas is just snow and decorations? :) To be honest, if I receive one more Xmas card with a snow scene on it, or Xmas decorations... or a robin.... I'll scream.

Think of what else Xmas is about. Compile a list.... just mind blast it:

Singing Carol
nativity
roasting chestnuts
family
frosty breath, gloves, scarf etc
cold
turkey/goose xmas dinner
presents neatly wrapped

etc ect...

To suggest that you can't take a Xmas card because there's no snow or decorations suggests that's the only subjects that should adorn Xmas cards. God help us if that's the case!!!!

Get shooting :)

Good points well made. And I suppose the whole point of my post, just a little inspiration required.

Just a wild idea, perhaps something religious? A cityscape featuring a beautiful church or cathedral? Something like that?
