Hi everyone,

Ive been looking for some lighting to take some photos of my family/friends etc

Yes I'm looking on eBay because i'm a student with not a lot of money and want some semi-decent results.

So far i'm looking at these:

Which one would you suggest? I dont mind not having the background included because i've sorted this with two light stands and a curtain rail :D

Welcome barnsley lad, from a wakey lad. I would go for the second link option if I were you.
 
None of those links, they are all continuous lighting and unsuitable for photographing people.

Continuous light is okay, providing there's enough of it (without too much heat) but those bulbs are completely unsuitable. Most of the light is blasting out of the sides and not going anywhere near the umbrella.

It looks to me like some enterprising soul has cobbled together a few bits and pieces from here and there, bundled them in to a kit with some nonsense words (lies, actually) and is punting them out to folks that believe what they read on ebay.
